Ranthambore Safari Booking Guide 2026

All Ranthambore safari permits are issued exclusively through the Rajasthan Forest Department booking system. Third-party websites are travel agents — always verify you are on the official portal.

Official booking portal

booking.forestrajasthan.com (also accessible via SSO at fmdss.forest.rajasthan.gov.in)

Key rules for 2026

  1. Advance window: Permits open up to 90 days before your safari date (book earlier for Oct–Mar peak season).
  2. Zone allocation: Automated by the system — you cannot choose a specific zone. Booking multiple safaris improves odds of core zones 1–5.
  3. Vehicle types:
    • Gypsy (jeep): 6 passengers + driver + guide. All 10 zones. Best for photography. ~₹3,050/person (Indian, indicative 2026 rate).
    • Canter (bus): 20 passengers. Not permitted in zones 7–8. ~₹2,422/person (Indian, indicative).
  4. ID mandatory: Government photo ID for Indians; passport for foreign nationals. Name on booking must match ID exactly.
  5. Reporting time: Arrive at boarding point 15 minutes before safari start.
  6. Tatkal quota: Opens 7 days before visit at premium rates — availability not guaranteed.

Recommended minimum

Book at least 2–3 safaris across different dates. One safari is a gamble; three gives you a realistic tiger encounter and exposure to different zones.
