Ranthambore National Park operates safaris from 1 October to 30 June each year. Choosing the right window depends on whether you prioritise comfortable weather, photography light, or maximum tiger activity at waterholes.
Winter (October – March)
Cool mornings (10–25°C), lush post-monsoon vegetation, and the highest tourist demand. Tiger sightings occur daily across all zones, with success rates of roughly 50–60% over 2–3 safaris. Book 90+ days ahead — February and March permits for core zones sell out within hours of release.
Summer (April – June)
Temperatures regularly exceed 40°C, but shrinking waterholes concentrate wildlife at Padam Talab, Malik Talab, and Rajbagh. This is when sighting rates peak — experienced visitors report 70–80% success over 4 safaris. Afternoon slots become highly productive; carry sun protection and plenty of water.
Monsoon closure (1 July – 30 September)
The park closes for habitat recovery and breeding. No safaris operate in core zones. Plan autumn arrivals for fresh landscapes and active territories from 1 October.
Weekly zone closures
- Zones 1–5: Closed every Wednesday
- Zones 6–10: Closed every Tuesday
Plan your dates around these closures when booking multiple safaris.
