Common Kingfisher Nesting By Padam Talab

A pair of common kingfishers (Alcedo atthis) was observed nesting in a lakeside bank near Padam Talab — indicating healthy fish populations and stable water levels heading into summer.

Kingfishers nest in earthen banks and dead-tree hollows along Ranthambore's major lakes. Malik Talab and Padam Talab are the most reliable locations. A 400mm telephoto lens is recommended for nesting behaviour shots.
